Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago close the preliminary round with wins
Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago closed the preliminary round of the Centrobasket Championship for Women with wins over Guatemala and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, respectively. Puerto Rico closed the preliminary round by winning over Guatemala 87-53. The Puerto Ricans finished with a 3-0 record to win Group B. The hosts started the game with a 21-0 run to dominate the first quarter 27-6. The first half ended 48-13 and they never looked back. Jamaica wins Group A after beating the Dominican Republic
Jamaica finished the preliminary round of the 2010 Centrobasket for Women winning over the Dominican Republic 79-76 to finish with a 3-0 record in Group A. Jamaica will face the team that finishes second in Group B in the semifinal stage. Nicole Louden netted 33 points while Simone Edwards had 17 and Vanessa Gidden 15 for Jamaica. They dominated the rebounds 47-36 and scored 48 points in the paint....

Puerto Rico wins the Gold medal, Panama goes out with the Bronze
Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic 89-80 to win Gold in the 2010 Centrobasket Championship. Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic qualified for the 2011 Pan-American Games. Panama defeated Cuba 75-74 to get the Bronze and the four finalists qualified for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship. Carlos Arroyo scored 23 points, José Juan Barea 16 and David Cortés 14 for the Puerto Ricans who won the second half 50-33. ..

The Twelfth Annual Bequia Basketball Tournament bounced off last Saturday July 10th at the Clive Tannis Hard Court on Bequia with twelve teams parading in their colourful uniforms, to a warm reception from the Bequia community. Visiting team from the mainland Calliaqua United also joined in the auspicious ceremony, which celebrates twelve years of basketball competition on Bequia, under the leadership of Sabrina Mitchell. Team Young Duke was adjudged and awarded a cake as the Best Dressed Team 2010. .....

Mexico dominates US Virgin Islands 81-37 and waits for the next game
Mexico dominated the US Virgin Islands 81-37 to finish the preliminary round in the 2010 Centrobasket Championship for Women with a 2-1 record. USVI finished with an 0-3 mark. The Mexican team depends on the game between the Dominican Republic and Jamaica to see if they qualify to the semifinal round. Mexico defeated the Dominican Republic 82-81 and lost against Jamaica 78-73 (-4). Brisa Silva scored 10 points in the first quarter as the Mexicans won 19-9. ....
