Puerto Rico beats Belize to win Group B
Puerto Rico defeated Belize 96-88 to win Group B of the 2010 Centrobasket Championship for Men in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With this win Cuba reaches the semifinals and qualifies for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship. Peter John Ramos scored 27 points, David Huertas 16 and Carlos Arroyo 16 with 7 assists for Puerto Rico who finished 3-1. ...

Cuba dominates Trinidad & Tobago to finish 2-2
Cuba defeated Trinidad & Tobago, 90-60, to finish the Preliminary Round of the Centrobasket for Men; Cuba finished the round with a record of 2-2, while Trinidad & Tobago finished with 1-3. The Cubans, helped by 11 points from Allens Jemmott, won the first quarter, 27-11. They shot for 11/18 from field goal range, including a 3/6 from the three-point line. Their bench took over the second quarter, securing the first half, 52-31. ....

Panama beats Jamaica and waits for the result of US Virgin Islands against the Dominican Republic
Panamá defeated the US Virgin Islands 55-51 to tie in second place of Group A with a 2-2 record in the Centrobasket Championship for Men. Danilo Pinnock netted 19 points, 11 of them in the second half to lead Panama to a win. Jamaica won the first quarter 12-10 and at halftime they led 24-20. In the second half the offense by Pinnock along with Leonardo Pomare and Desmond Smith gave Panama the win. ....

The Dominican Republic qualifies for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship
The Dominican Republic crushed the British Virgin Islands 85-47 in order to become the first team to qualify for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship. The Dominicans have a 3-0 record in the preliminary round.  Charlie Villanueva netted 28 points by shooting 5-6 from two and 6-12 from three to lead his country. Jack Michael Martinez also helped with 12 points and 11 boards.

Puerto Rico wins second straight by dominating Cuba
Puerto Rico dominated Cuba 73-51 to win day two of the Centrobasket Championship in order to have a 2-1 record. Cuba won on day one but then lost two in a row to be 1-2. Carlos Arroyo had 16 points while Renaldo Balkman netted 11 with 14 rebounds, 7 of them offensive, to lead the Puerto Ricans. Nathan Peavy added 10 points. Puerto Rico had all their players scoring once again. Cuba had Yordanis Jaca and Yoan Luis Haiti with 9 points each.
