Every National Basketball Federation has been offered an opportunity to send 1 boy and 1 girl to the Children of the World Camp. The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) and FIBA are proud to inform you of the holding of the Children of the World Camp for boys and girls born 1997 and 1996 in Istanbul, during the FIBA World Championship. The TBF offers each National Federation the opportunity to send one (1) boy and one (1) girl, accompanied with one (1) young basketball coach to Istanbul.
SAN JUAN - The Puerto Rican Basketball Federation announced changes to the 24 player list submitted for the 2010 Centrobasket Championship to be played from July 5-11 in the Dominican Republic. The new names on the list are: Luis Villafane (Santurce), Joel Jones (Quebradillas), Kevin Hamilton (NY Phantoms, Germany) and Mike Rosario (Rutgers). They replace Alex Galindo (Mayaguez) and Edwin Ubiles (Siena) who are injured and Dennis Clemente (Kansas State) along with Jorge Bryan Diaz (Nebraska).
SAN JUAN (FIBA-Americas U18 Championship) - Puerto Rico named their 24 players for the 2010 FIBA-Americas U18 Championship to be played from June 26-30 in San Antonio, Texas. This tournament qualifies the top four teams to the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship. The team is coached by Luis ‘Wichi’ Ruiz who has a combination of the best local talent along many names from US schools.
Milton Barnes has been named to replace Tevester Anderson as the New Head Coach of the Virgin Islands Senior Men National Team. Barnes who currently serves as a Regional Scout for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA, served as the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU), under Head Coach Matt Doherty. Barnes has attained championship coaching and administrative experience at every level of basketball over the last 30 years; including an NBDL title with Greenville (S.C.) in 2002, a Goodwill Games Gold Medal with Team USA in 1998.
